Dusty Boynton: OUT OF LINE
October 21 - December 11, 2010Denise Bibro Fine Art is pleased to present Dusty Boynton: Out of Line, the artist’s fifth solo show at the gallery, on view October 21 through December 11, 2010. Boynton’s new series of works on paper are rendered with exuberant, gestural zest, as she continues to delve deep into the realms of the inner child, emotional conflict, and psychology.
Boynton approaches her work with a sense of immediacy, transparency, and vulnerability. As Donald Kuspit notes in his essay, “Boynton’s works are as timelessly fresh as ever: the inner child remains alive and well in her art. He goes on to add that she is “a masterful colorist and gesturalist, but above all, her works are painterly drawings.”
Out of Line refers not only to Boynton’s maverick mark making, but to the raw demeanor and unpredictable behavior of her subjects. At times joyous, but also embodying anger, fear, regret, and self-doubt, they are humble creatures to whom we somehow all relate.
Boynton has shown at Littlejohn Contemporary, New York, NY; Gallery Jupiter, Little Silver, NJ; and Steffany Martz Gallery, New York, NY. Selected group exhibitions include In the Garden at Barbara Krakow in Boston, MA; New Prints, 2002 at the International Print Center, New York, NY; Book, Box, Word, Volume II at the University of Florida and the North Miami Contemporary Art Center. Her work has been reviewed in ArtNews, Art in America, The New York Times, Arts Magazine, and New Art Examiner.
