ILIYAN IVANOV : PSYCHOLOGY OF ABSTRACTION

November 10 - January 5, 2026

Denise Bibro Fine Art, NYC announces its new Ivanov exhibition, Psychology of Abstraction in conjunction with the catalogue Psychology of Abstraction. The exhibition and catalogue feature a selection of both recent and earlier works that highlight Ivanov’s enduring commitment to abstraction. In his most recent practice, Ivanov has focused on creating large-scale paintings and works on paper that draw inspiration, in part, from the “real” world—yet he intentionally resists being defined by it.

Through his evolving language of abstraction, Ivanov explores the relationships between shape, form, and fluidity to evoke emotion and sensation. His work engages in a visceral dialogue that invites viewers to move beyond the constraints of physical form and connect on a deeply personal and psychological level—opening infinite possibilities for interpretation and response.

Iliyan Ivanov is a Bulgarian abstract artist, living and working in New York City. He employs his canvas as a conduit for capturing the intricate nuances of emotion and behavior. Through a symphony of visual analogies, Ivanov orchestrates a mesmerizing interplay of color and form, daily navigating a multi-layered approach to his palettes. Bold and vivid hues dance across the canvas, each brushstroke a testament to the artist’s masterful command of his craft. With a dynamic energy that pulsates through his work, Ivanov infuses each piece with a palpable vitality, inviting viewers into a captivating exploration of the human experience.
