KAYO SHIDO : OBSCURE EROSION OF EMOTION

April 7 - May 17, 2025

“Obscure Erosion of Emotion” is an exploration of the fluidity of emotions and the
stillness that lies beneath the surface of the human psyche. Inspired by natural
elements like wind and water erosion, my work creates a visual language of continuous
motion that embodies inner peace and subtle emotional shifts. Through the use of
layered, fluid painting techniques, I aim to capture the delicate balance between
calmness and the continuous flow of energy within us. The result is an emotional
landscape that is ever-changing yet anchored in stillness—a reflection of the
unconscious mind’s eternal, quiet movement.

The exhibition will feature a series of abstract paintings, each depicting a different facet
of this fluid stillness. The works will incorporate layers of paint that evoke the sense of
erosion and transformation, symbolizing how unconscious emotions and memories shift
over time, subtly shaping our inner world. The compositions will be soft and meditative,
allowing the viewer to enter a space where time and thought seem suspended.

DENISE BIBRO FINE ART, NYC is excited to celebrate our finalist from the annual Art From The Boros competition with a virtual solo exhibition, which will be featured on our website and social media. Shido’s work is a testament to the incredible talent found across the five boroughs of New York City. The city’s hidden corners are brimming with promise, creativity, and innovation, and Shido is a prime example of the remarkable talent that thrives here.

Each of Shido’s paintings explores the complexities of navigating one’s inner world—the mind and the soul. Every piece reflects different aspects of stillness and its intricacies, evolving and layering emotions and memories with paint. Her work symbolizes how the unconscious can be both turbulent and serene at once. The beauty of this process invites the viewer to reflect on and explore their own inner sanctum.
