Concrete, plaster, wood lath, wood filler, and found objects are the materials of choice for New York artist Gerald Wolfe. He cuts, scrapes, and patches to create his art—yet always preserves the inherent character of the materials. Wolf’s works often suggest recognizable objects, while simultaneously carrying the mystique of the new and abstract. Each piece possesses stature, a sense of place, and an implied history, while infused with energy.

The artist explains that each piece is only finished when he feels he has reached a sense of simplicity and balance that can be seen through shadows, line, and form.
